PC: Scott Streble

My name is Khary (car-ee) Jackson.

(Some places I go by K. Jadea, but either way Khary works fine.)

I’m from Detroit, with a dash of Southern Cali on the side. Currently, I do my thing in MN. My work, often multidisciplinary, engages and intersects with history and the future. I do have some professional foresight training, but I use it in the context of creative art. As valuable as it is to imagine possible futures and paths to get there, I love the particular ways that art can bring all of that alive.

As for history, I view it as stories of futurists that lived before us. Even if they wouldn’t call themselves something like that, their hopes and actions speak of futurism to me. Of looking carefully, boldly ahead. And, sometimes, starting that vision from within.

What do I do?

I write poetry, plays, screenplays and fiction. I improvise music for improv comedy groups. I record music (in a wide range of genres), both for my own projects and for others. I dance and choreograph when I’m feeling it. Sometimes I’ll be invited to try something I’ve never done. I often say yes.

What do I mean by “liminal evoker?”

One definition of liminal: occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold

Evoker can mean: to call forth or up; to bring to mind or recollection; to re-create imaginatively

I think you can find (or create) a meaning with that info. I believe in you.
